| Taking Care Of Your Cutlery |
Although Stainless steel is Synonymous with durability, care must be taken to ensure that your Cutlery is protected from the everyday effects of corrosive elements.
Austenitic stainless steel is the best corrosion resistant grade to use and typically contains 17-19% chromium and 8-11% nickel.
Often this is known as 18/8 or 18/10 stainless steel. Generally 18/10 has a slightly higher corrosion resistance.
Remember the steel is STAINLESS, not stain or rust free! Therefore by following the rules below you will significantly prolong the lifetime of your cutlery.
- Clean and wipe dry as soon as possible after use
- Prolonged immersion in water is the main cause of staining and pitting
- Never allow food deposits, especially salt , lemon and cream to remain on unwashed cutlery as this will also cause pitting
- Avoid cleaning with abrasive pads and cleaners as this can cause damage to the surface of the Stainless steel
- It is recommended that cutlery is not used for cooking as direct heat can also damage the surface
CLEANING CUTLERY IN THE DISHWASHER
- The rinse & hold cycle should not be used when washing cutlery
- As soon as the cycle is complete, immediately remove the cutlery and wipe dry with a soft cloth
- It is advised that attention is given to the manufacturers instructions, in particular types of detergent to use and methods of loading cutlery
